How much does a solar installation cost? When will it return? Analysis on a specific example

Photovoltaics: How much do panels cost? When will the installation pay for itself? I also check how the whole thing works, how to choose a good offer and what the assembly looks like. Everything on a specific example payday loans tyler TX.

The article about the "My Current" program published some time ago on the blog interested not only you, but also my good friend. I gave it to him to read because I knew he had been thinking about investing in his own solar power plant for a long time. He recently contacted me, actually sent me pictures of the finished installation. I decided to take this opportunity to come back to the topic, this time from the practical side. From my article, prepared with the huge support of a friend, you will learn how much a solar installation costs, how to go about it, what to pay attention to when choosing a specific offer and how such a home power plant works on a daily basis.

What kind of photovoltaic installation does my friend have? How much did he pay for it?

Let's start with the basic point. The price of a photovoltaic installation depends on several factors:

· Installed power

· Classes of components used (mainly modules and inverter)

· Installer reputation

· Type of installation (single or three-phase, on grid or off grid)

· Modules mounting locations (ground installation will be more expensive)

· Type of roof (installation on a flat roof is more expensive due to the need to use additional frames)

My friend's installation parameters can be found in the table below:

Installed power

4.16 kWp

Components used

Growatt 3600 TL-XE inverter, 13 Akcome SK6610M monocrystalline modules, 320W each.

Installer

A local company, with no great reputation, but recommended to a friend by another person who was satisfied with the installation.

Type of installation

Single-phase, on grid (i.e. energy is stored in the grid).

Place of installation

On the roof, south slope with a deviation to the east.

Roof type

A sloping roof, covered with ceramic tiles.

As a friend says: everything is "Chinese" 😊 but there is nothing to laugh at, because China is the world leader in photovoltaics and this technology is really good for them.

For such an installation, my friend paid exactly PLN 18,000 gross (after negotiations, from the ceiling of 19,000). The price also included the notification of the installation to the energy company (ENEA). A friend applied for a subsidy from the government program "My Electricity" in the amount of PLN 5,000. Waits for confirmation of the grant.

Classic question: when will it pay off?

At the moment, it is difficult to predict when the total return on investment will actually take place. However, to quote my friend's words: without the subsidy, I would definitely not have made it. The installation was launched in mid-June. Until August 24, it produced 1,361 kWh of energy worth about PLN 800, taking into account the current electricity prices.

It is clear that such yields will not be possible all year round. It is estimated that the sharp decline in production should take place in the period from November to February. In total, however, the installation is to produce about 4.3 MWh of electricity throughout the year, which should fully satisfy the demand for electricity in my friend's household (annual consumption at the level of 3 MWh).

A friend has an on grid installation, which means that he gives the surplus energy to the grid. According to the act, as a prosumer, he can collect 80% of this energy free of charge (i.e. 20% is a tribute for storing electricity).
